Why We Started SoJo
At the heart of SoJo Pest Control is a simple conviction: your pest control company should be run by people who know the business deeply, who answer the phone themselves, and who stand behind every treatment with their own reputation — not a franchise contract.
Mark and Ted founded SoJo in 2024 because they saw a gap in South Jersey's pest control market. The national chains send different technicians on every visit, route calls through out-of-state call centers, and charge prices inflated by franchise fees. Independent companies with deep technical knowledge and genuine local accountability were rare.
SoJo was built to be the company they would have wanted to hire. Owner-operated, based out of Voorhees, we're licensed in NJ, PA, MD and DE. We're proudly serving many residential and commercial customers across the Delaware Valley region on both sides of the river.
Mark
Co-Owner, Lead Technician, Operations, Customer RelationsMark brings over 10 years of hands-on pest control experience to every job. That includes 5 years as a business owner and time managing a high-volume branch serving more than 6,000 customers — an operational scale that very few technicians have ever worked at.
That experience matters in the field. Mark has encountered the full range of pest situations South Jersey homeowners face — from routine ant treatments to complex termite infestations in older housing stock. His technical depth is why every SoJo treatment is done right the first time.
Mark is a licensed Pesticide Applicator in NJ, DE, PA, and MD — a credential that requires demonstrated knowledge of pest biology, treatment methods, and safe product application according to state standards.
Ted
Co-Owner, Technician, Sales, Customer RelationsAfter 30 years in the corporate world, Ted made a deliberate choice to step away and build something more personal — a business grounded in service, accountability, and genuine community relationships.
This isn't Ted's first business. He previously owned and operated a lawn care company, which he ran while completing his education at Drexel University. That experience gave him a firsthand understanding of what it takes to build customer trust in a home services business: show up on time, do what you said you would, and treat people fairly.
Ted is a licensed pest control operator with a focus on being a technician, managing customer relationships, sales and operations.
